What is Virtus, and what does it cost.
What is Virtus Performance?
A strength and conditioning facility in Mornington, coaching everyday people and athletes since 2014. Every session is coached, sessions are capped small, and members are known by name.
How is this different from a normal gym?
A normal gym hands you a key and leaves you to work it out. We coach every Session, capped small, built around your goals, and we explain it as we go: what each exercise is for, why it is in your program and what it is building towards. You're paying for a coach who teaches, not a swipe card. More on how we coach is on our About page.
What does it cost?
The Free Intro costs nothing. Five 1:1 onboarding sessions are $599, or $899 for a pair at $450 each. After that, memberships run $71 to $120 a week depending on the program, and every session is coached. The full breakdown is on our pricing page.
Where are you located?
1/2 Torca Terrace, Mornington VIC 3931. Free on-site and street parking out front.
Your first visit
Before you walk in.
What actually happens at the Free Intro?
A 15-minute phone call or a 30-minute visit with a coach: your goals, your questions, and an honest recommendation either way. If you visit, we will show you around the floor. The full walkthrough is on our Get Started page.
Do I need any experience?
None. Onboarding is one on one and teaches you everything from the ground up before you ever train on the floor.
Am I fit enough to start?
You are exactly who we coach. Nobody on our floor cares what anyone else is lifting. Every member started somewhere.
I'm coming back from an injury, can I still train?
Often, after the right clinical guidance. Our coaches can adapt training within their scope; diagnosis and treatment remain with your qualified health professional. If you are unsure, contact us and we'll help route you.
What should I bring to my first session?
Comfortable clothes you can move in and closed shoes. We'll sort the rest.
Can juniors train at Virtus?
Yes. We coach junior athletes aged 10 to 18 through our dedicated junior programs. Ask about it in your Free Intro.
Membership & billing
The fine print, in plain English.
Why is onboarding mandatory?
Because it's five one-on-one sessions where a coach screens how you move, teaches you the systems, and sets your goals. You walk onto the floor already knowing what you're doing. Five 1:1 onboarding sessions are $599, or $899 for a pair at $450 each. Full onboarding pricing is on our pricing page.
Why do you cost more than other gyms?
Because every session is coached, on a floor capped at 8, not open equipment access. You're paying for a coach who knows your name and your history. See what members say about it on our Results page.
How does billing work?
Weekly direct debit, no lock-in contracts, no joining fees, cancel with 28 days' notice. Full billing terms are on our pricing page.
Can I pause my membership?
Yes, memberships can be held up to 4 weeks in any rolling 12-week period, with billing paused too. Reach out through our Contact page to arrange it.
What if I'm not sure which membership fits?
That's what the Free Intro is for: a 15-minute phone call or a 30-minute visit with a coach and a clear recommendation either way. Our two-minute Focus Finder can also point you in the right direction.
Training & coaching
How sessions actually run.
Will I be training alone or with a coach?
Every single session is coached. You are never handed a program and left to figure it out on your own.
How many people are in a session?
Semi-private, a maximum of 8 people, so your coach knows your name and your goals.
How long are sessions?
60 minutes, coached start to finish. Some run a little shorter or longer, 45 to 75 depending on the session.
I'm worried it's an intimidating athletes-only gym.
It isn't. Real coaching, zero ego, known by name. A good chunk of our floor has never played competitive sport in their life.
How often should I train?
Most members train 2 to 4 sessions a week. Sessions are fully programmed, so you are in, coached, and out.
The Virtus way
How we do things here.
- You're known by name here. Say hello.
- Zero ego, on the floor and off it.
- Leave the ego at the door. We're all working on something.
- Encourage the person next to you. Their win doesn't take anything from yours.
- Human first, athlete second. Life happens, we adjust, we don't quit.
- Look after the space and look after each other. Rerack it, wipe it down, treat this place like it's yours, because it is.
